Entrepreneurs urged to build sustainable businesses

Ghanaian entrepreneurs have been advised to prioritize the development of sustainable, value-driven enterprises over simply registering more businesses. Mr Paul Elikem Dovi, the Regional Consultant for IGNITE Social Enterprise Limited in Sub-Saharan Africa, Ghana, emphasized the importance of hard work, dedication, commitment, and integrity in building lasting companies.

He stressed that entrepreneurs should leverage digital platforms and emerging opportunities to thrive in a changing economic landscape and compete on the global market. Mr Dovi highlighted the significance of treating people fairly, protecting reputation, and remaining committed to one's vision even after initial excitement subsides.

He encouraged the adoption of e-commerce and digital retail to expand entrepreneurial possibilities beyond geographical limitations. IGNITE, a startup based in Hong Kong, aims to establish a presence in Ghana, promoting locally produced goods internationally through digital channels. The organization seeks to empower Ghanaian producers by incorporating their products into its global network.

Mr Dovi urged graduates and young people to combine their academic qualifications with entrepreneurial skills and practical experience, viewing their certificates as part of a broader path to economic success. Traditional leader Ohempon Dr Yeboah Asiamah of the Atebubu Traditional Area emphasized the need for entrepreneurs to identify community challenges and transform them into viable business opportunities, advocating for careful risk assessment and strategic testing of ideas before substantial financial commitments.
