DTCP closes €455M defence fund to scale Europe’s strategic tech capabilities

The DTCP Defence Fund I has closed commitments totaling €455 million, marking a significant milestone for Europe's strategic tech capabilities. This fund, led by European institutional and strategic investors such as Deutsche Telekom, Porsche SE, EIFO, Danica, and SmartCap, focuses on early-growth and growth-stage technology companies that develop critical capabilities for European defence, security, and resilience.

DTCP Defence aims to invest primarily in Europe, selectively backing companies from NATO member states and close allies whose technologies are strategically relevant to European defence, interoperability, or supply chains. The fund's strategy is centered on AI, autonomous systems, cyber defence, secure communications, and space technologies, with a particular emphasis on Series B and later equity financing rounds.

DTCP Defence has already made investments in companies like Six Robotics and Kraken Technology Group, with a third investment currently in progress. Ole Aguirre and Georgia Watson lead the fund's strategy, combining their extensive defence and technology investment experience with DTCP's long-standing expertise. The fund's establishment addresses a critical need in Europe by accelerating the development and scaling of Europe's own strategic capabilities, requiring substantial European capital and investors who can identify, support, and scale mission-critical technology companies.

DTCP has previously invested in Quantum Systems and STARK Defence. As part of the fund's expansion, DTCP plans to open a new office in Copenhagen, Denmark, further strengthening its commitment to the Northern European region and enhancing European value chains.
