Distribute samosas, tea among staff: Delhi High Court waives fine in cheque bounce case

The Delhi High Court has waived off Rs 50,000 in costs imposed on a company in a cheque bounce case, and ordered the counsel representing the company to distribute samosas and tea to all employees of the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) within a week. The court imposed the fine on August 20, accusing the company of hiding a trial court order pertaining to the case.

However, when the waiver plea was heard on September 17, the High Court agreed to the request, stating that the present application is disposed of, but the counsel is required to distribute the snacks to all DHCBA employees within a week. The company, Indus Birra Beverages, had sought to get the cheque bounce case dismissed, and on the next hearing date, the court found that the company had concealed a trial court order, affecting the case outcome.

Justice Saurabh Banerjee criticized the company's conduct, noting that they were making contradictory statements to different courts and attempting to manipulate the situation by withholding information.
