Dax aktuell: Anleger halten sich vor USA-China-Treffen zurück – Dax notiert kaum verändert

Investors initially stayed away from the market ahead of the upcoming meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump. The DAX index opened Thursday morning at 25,354 points, hardly changed from the previous day's close. On Wednesday, it had ended the trading session down 0.7 percent at 25,410 points. President Xi's first trip to the United States in nearly three years will focus on tensions between the world superpowers in trade and technology.

A state banquet is planned for the evening, where CEOs of major US companies such as Apple, Nvidia, OpenAI, and JPMorgan are expected to attend. First statements from the country's leaders are expected in the afternoon before the three-day state visit. The US government recently extended the trade conflict tariff pause with China until January 10, according to US Treasury Secretary Scott Besse.

Oil prices and uncertainty continue to weigh on market sentiment. High Brent crude oil prices, at $103.56 per barrel for November delivery, continue to pressure the market at the start of trading in Frankfurt. On Wednesday, Brent oil prices briefly rose more than four percent.
