Daniel Cormier urges patience with Gable Steveson

Daniel Cormier, a former UFC two-weight world champion, has defended Gable Steveson's future prospects in the UFC after Steveson suffered a loss. Although Cormier has previously expressed criticism towards Steveson's reaction to defeat and his choice of cornermen, which includes the legendary Jon Jones, he has now stated that he has no problem with the Olympic gold medalist. Cormier emphasized that he loves Steveson, acknowledging that he is an Olympic champion in wrestling, the sport Cormier himself loves most.

Cormier dismissed concerns about his alleged dislike for Steveson, insisting that the wrestler deserves time to reset his career. He emphasized that a loss at the top level of wrestling does not determine a fighter's future, and Steveson needs to have a mental and approach reset. Cormier pointed out that Steveson has nowhere else to go but up, unlike Josh Hokit, another wrestler who has fought for the heavyweight championship but did not make the same mistakes as Steveson in his earlier fights.

In a message to Steveson, Cormier expressed confidence in the young fighter's future, stating, "I think Gable Steveson is going to be okay. I really do. He’s an amateur. He’s young. His time will come."
