Dangote Refinery boosts petrol supply to 35.9m litres daily as fuel imports drop 26%

In August, Dangote Refinery increased its supply of premium motor spirit, PMS, to 35.9 million litres daily in Nigeria's domestic market, as fuel imports dropped by 26% to 14.6 million litres per day, according to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority's August factsheet. The refinery's petrol receipt to the Nigerian market rose by 39% in August, from 25.8 million litres per day in July, while crude receipt increased by 17% to 0.683 million barrels per day from 0.585 million barrels per day in the previous month.

Fuel imports, however, decreased by 26% during the period, falling from 19.7 million litres per day in July to 14.6 million litres per day in August. This development comes as PMS consumption in Nigeria dropped by 14% to 41.5 million litres per day from 48.3 million litres per day during the same period.
