D K Shivakumar seeks CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, fresh SIR in Karnataka

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has called for reforms in the Election Commission of India (ECI), citing a recent disagreement between two election commissioners over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke emphasized that addressing issues such as school infrastructure and tribal education would be futile if the right to vote were compromised. The party has cancelled its upcoming events and announced a press conference in Delhi to discuss the issue.

Opposition leaders have accused the ECI of compromising elections and have demanded the impeachment and arrest of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Two election commissioners, Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, have formally objected to the ECI's decisions and orders 14 times over the past 10 months. The CJP has accused the ECI of "stealing our votes" and stated that no progress can be made if people cannot exercise their right to vote.
