Copeland expands cold chain capabilities with Dickson acquisition

Temperature-control systems firm Copeland broadened its reach in the cold chain sector by acquiring Dickson. This acquisition bolsters Copeland's portfolio with monitoring and compliance technologies tailored for the healthcare and life sciences industries. Ross Shuster, Copeland's CEO, explained that the merger will enhance Copeland's ability to cater to customers throughout the entire healthcare and life sciences cold chain, ranging from pharmaceutical manufacturing to distribution and patient care.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The Dickson platform employs cloud-based technology to facilitate temperature monitoring and visibility across the healthcare supply chain, from production to final delivery. It alerts food and pharmaceutical shippers of potential temperature deviations before they transpire. Rick Weiler, Dickson's president and CEO, noted that "Our customers operate in highly regulated environments where precision, compliance, and visibility are crucial."

By merging Copeland and Dickson, they aim to combine complementary technologies and expertise, thereby strengthening temperature-sensitive product monitoring and safeguarding within increasingly intricate supply chains. With over 200 million heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration installations spread across approximately 40 countries, Copeland stands to significantly expand its capabilities through this acquisition.

The significance of this move lies in Copeland's ability to integrate advanced cloud-based temperature monitoring systems into its healthcare customers' supply chains. This integration safeguards delicate products and averts losses by alerting shippers to potential temperature fluctuations before they occur.
