Chinese businesses urged to invest in Volta Region

Sunon Asogli Power Chairman Wang Jinxiao has implored Chinese businesses operating in Ghana to consider investing in the Volta Region. He believes the Volta Economic Forum's shift from showcasing opportunities to executing investments is a perfect time to turn Ghana's various investment prospects into thriving businesses, jobs, and sustainable development.

The Volta Region, Wang maintains, offers significant potential in human resources, agriculture, industry, tourism, and energy, bolstered by its strategic position, natural resources, coastline, and closeness to neighboring markets. He aims to convince Chinese investors that the Volta Region isn't just a venue for presenting investment opportunities but a place where businesses can be established, industries can be developed, jobs can be created, and communities can be supported.

Wang insists that successful investments do more than just attract capital; they foster demand for local services, enhance skills, support local businesses, generate employment, and contribute to the broader economy. He argues that investments should not only bring capital but also build local capacity, facilitate technology and knowledge transfer, create jobs, and promote sustainable development.

This aligns with Ghana-China's economic cooperation strategy. Wang also highlights China's zero-tariff policy for African nations, starting May 1, 2026, as an opportunity for Ghana to bolster its productive capacity, add value to its natural resources, and develop businesses capable of competing globally. He urges stronger collaboration between the government, private sector, communities, traditional authorities, and development partners.

Wang finally calls on Chinese enterprises to "come and invest, come and build, and come and partner" with Ghanaian businesses and communities to create lasting value and contribute to the Volta Region's and Ghana's development.
