Bypoll in Madurantakam was forced: Palaniswami

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami alleged that the bypoll for the Madurantakam Assembly constituency was "forced" due to the MLA from the constituency being "bought in horse trading". Palaniswami made this claim during his campaign for the AIADMK candidate for the Madurantakam bypoll. He stated that the MLAs resignation was pressured upon by TVK founder C. Joseph Vijay to "save their government", and she subsequently joined TVK and became the TVK candidate for the bypoll.

Palaniswami condemned this action, saying that it was a matter of shame and that the man should face it head-on. He also criticized the TVK candidate for lacking gratitude and disrespecting the electorate of Madurantakam, noting that the electorate had voted for the AIADMK candidate in the previous Assembly polls and made her win.
