Bygg-og anleggsleverandør konkurs: 30 ansatte rammes

Horneberg Bygg AS, a Trondheim-based construction company with 65 years of experience in masonry, painting, and framing, has been placed into bankruptcy proceedings at Trøndelag County Court. The company, which was established in 2004 and has completed numerous public and private projects in recent years, including the construction of Varden Byåsen, a new residential center in Hallset, has filed for reorganization with its creditors to alleviate some of its debt.

This move aims to ensure that financially healthy companies can continue operating and retain their workforce. According to the court order, Horneberg Bygg owes approximately 9.9 million kroner, with total assets valued at under one million kroner. The company employs 30 people at the time of filing. The company's president, Knut Dypvik, attributes the financial situation to issues within Ruta Entreprenør AS, the parent company, which is also undergoing reconstruction.

He emphasizes that the focus will be on finding the cause of the financial difficulties and addressing the workforce. The current financial situation of Horneberg Bygg has fluctuated significantly in recent years, with revenue dropping from 50-60 million kroner annually from 2016-2020 to 18.4 million kroner in 2021 and 10.5 million kroner in 2022, due to the impact of the pandemic.

Since then, there has been a gradual recovery, with revenue reaching 19.3 million kroner in 2024 and 31.6 million kroner in 2025. However, the company has faced significant losses, with a net loss of 8.8 million kroner in 2022, resulting in a total loss of nearly 7.3 million kroner from 2021 to 2025. Earnings per share have also been negative since 2022.

The recent wave of construction and engineering bankruptcies in Norway has been driven by rising interest rates and increased costs, as well as fierce competition and thin margins. Trøndelag is among the regions affected, with notable bankruptcies including FVS Entreprenør earlier in the autumn and ByggDesign, Adepten, Frent, and Innherred Entreprenør.
