Breaking: Boy, 11, dies days after being shot in the head at Sydney home

An 11-year-old boy from Sydney's north-west died after sustaining a gunshot wound to his face and neck in a home in the suburb of Norwest. Police were alerted to the incident on Monday at around 5pm following reports of a shooting at a unit located in Fairway Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered the young boy was critically injured and promptly transported him to Westmead Children's Hospital.

There, he continued to fight for his life as paramedics provided initial medical attention before transferring him to the hospital. Fortunately, five other individuals present during the incident were not injured. Three men, all aged 18, were subsequently arrested in connection with the shooting. Two of the arrested men were taken to The Hills police station and subsequently released pending further investigation.

The third man, identified as Isaac Bechara, was charged with concealing a serious indictable offense and made his appearance in Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday morning. The court refused his bail application. Detective Superintendent Naomi Moore, speaking to reporters on Tuesday afternoon, stated that police had prior knowledge of the unit in question and had interacted with its occupants in the past.

Although the shooting does not appear to be directly tied to current conflicts, investigators are examining the possibility of a connection to organized crime. The police investigation remains ongoing.
