BlackBerry reports Q2 profit and revenue up from year ago, raises guidance

TORONTO - BlackBerry Ltd. posted a profit of US$33.9 million for the second quarter, up from US$13.3 million in the same period last year. The Ontario-based company also raised its guidance, projecting revenue of between US$616 million and US$636 million for the 2027 fiscal year, up from a previous forecast of US$594 million to US$621 million.

The company's revenue increased by 26 per cent to US$163.3 million, driven by QNX revenue growing to US$80.3 million from US$63.1 million and secure communications revenue rising to US$60.9 million from US$59.9 million. Licensing revenue expanded to US$22.1 million from US$6.6 million. Adjusted earnings per share for the quarter reached seven cents US, up from four cents US a year earlier.
