Big Pixel VIPs widget redesign starts rolling out

Google has started rolling out the redesigned Pixel VIPs widget following the version 2.0 update released earlier this week. The redesign limits Pixel VIPs to two layouts: a 5×1 configuration displaying one row of up to four prioritized contacts with circular avatars and first names, and a 5×2 configuration featuring rectangular cards with pill-shaped buttons for quick calls or messages.

Unread messages will trigger a circular badge, which may be more visible in the latter configuration. The redesign replaces the bottom sheet design with a widget that covers the entire screen in the 5×1 layout and a dock at the bottom to switch between Pixel VIPs. This update is currently only available on select Pixel devices and is rolling out via a server-side update.
