BI: Over 32,000 Domestic Credit Cards Issued in First Month

The total transaction value of the Indonesian Credit Card (KKI) has reached Rp18.7 billion since its public launch.

Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti announced that over 32,000 Domestic Credit Cards (KKI) have been issued within the card's first month of launch. The KKI is a tailor-made card for retail consumers and the general public, unveiled by the central bank on August 17, 2026. BI is actively expanding the card's distribution network, with a total of 32,457 cards issued, activated, and distributed since its inception.

The KKI operates as a credit-backed payment instrument, serving as a funding source for various QRIS payment channels. It is currently available as a digital card integrated within banking applications. Initially, eight Payment Service Providers (PSPs) were chosen as pioneers: BCA, Mandiri, BNI, BRI, CIMB Niaga, PermataBank, Bank Mega, and BSI, which is developing Sharia-compliant financing options.

Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta revealed that BCA holds the largest share of active users, with approximately 28,000 cardholders. BRI and PermataBank follow, each registering about 1,500 users. Around 8,000 active users are utilizing the KKI across these eight first movers. In total, there have been 38,800 recorded transactions, amounting to Rp18.7 billion in value.

The average transaction value, or ticket size, is approximately Rp482,000. Bank Indonesia is executing the KKI rollout in three phases, with the current initial phase focusing on a digital credit card linked directly as a QRIS funding source.
