Bersatu rules out solo run in Melaka

Bersatu, a political party, has ruled out a solo run in the upcoming Melaka state election, according to its information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz. He stated that the party is still in discussions with other parties for an electoral pact, which includes seat negotiations at both the state and national levels. The talks, as quoted by Berita Harian, were referring to Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the president of Bersatu.

Tun Faisal emphasized that Bersatu is open to working with any party or coalition as long as the nation's interest is prioritized and they do not have to compromise on their principles. There is no set deadline for the negotiations, and Bersatu is willing to consider other partners if talks with any party fail to yield a suitable arrangement.

This stance comes after Melaka Pakatan Harapan chairman Adly Zahari mentioned last week that negotiations were taking place between Bersatu and other parties on a potential PH Plus arrangement for the election. Muhyiddin previously mentioned that Bersatu had been engaging in talks with several political parties to form a new political alignment ahead of the general election.

Bersatu participated in the August 1 Negeri Sembilan polls alone but ended up losing all 24 seats contested. The Melaka assembly was subsequently dissolved, setting the stage for a state election to be held within 60 days, although the Election Commission has not yet announced the nomination and polling dates.
