Bentley's first EV is a 375-mile luxury SUV that hits 60 mph in 2.8 seconds

Bentley has unveiled its first electric vehicle, the Torcal, after months of speculation and official previews. The Torcal is the fourth model in Bentley's current lineup, which includes the luxury sedan Flying Spur, the coupe and convertible Continental GT/GTC, and the SUV Bentayga. The name Torcal is derived from a natural reserve in Spain, known for its limestone rock formations and deep caves.

The SUV is built on the Porsche Cayenne Electric's 800-volt PPE platform, but prioritizes luxury over performance compared to its electric counterpart.

The Torcal comes in two trims: the base Core model and the sportier S variant. Both trims are powered by a 113.2 kWh battery that can cover up to 375 miles (320 miles under EPA testing) on a full charge. The battery supports up to 400 kW of DC fast charging, providing a 10%-80% charge in 16 minutes or adding 100 miles of range in 7 minutes.

The Core and S trims share the same dual-motor permanent-magnet synchronous powertrain with all-wheel drive. The Torcal S, with its 888 PS (876 hp) and 1,350 Nm (996 lb-ft) of torque, can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 162 mph. The Core variant, with 821 PS (810 hp) and 1,194 Nm (852 lb-ft) of torque, hits 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph.

The Torcal's price starts at £165,000 ($230,000) for the Core and £200,000 ($270,000) for the S variant in the UK and US markets. Pre-orders can be placed from next month, with production beginning in the second quarter of 2027. The Torcal will be available in the US, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, China, India, and other major markets.
