Badeurlaub im Oktober: Herbstferien: Sonnenziele sind noch gut buchbar

At the beginning of October, the first German states begin their autumn holidays. Those who wish to recharge their batteries with sun and warmth before the cold season arrives are not alone: many holiday destinations are in high demand during the autumn holidays. However, with a little flexibility, suitable offers can still be found.

Dennis Schrahe, managing director of the Düsseldorf organizer Alltours, says that demand is currently very high. "A large share of current bookings still goes to trips this autumn," he adds. Particularly in demand are sun-safe holiday destinations such as the Canary Islands, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, and Mallorca.

Where will bookings be tight? Greece is already well-booked, says Steffen Boehnke, product manager of market leader Tui Deutschland in Hanover. However, availability is still possible there, especially in Corfu, Rhodes, and Chalkidiki. Where is the selection still large? "Good availability is currently seen, among other places, on the Cape Verde, Canary, and Balearic Islands, as well as in Morocco, Cyprus, Egypt, and Turkey," says Boehnke.

Flexibility with destination, departure airport, and travel dates pays off: in the selection and often also in the price. "With alternative departure airports that have no holidays left, there could still be suitable offers available despite high demand," says the Tui manager.

What is the price level compared to autumn holidays in 2025? On average, travel prices for all destinations are slightly higher than last year, according to Dennis Schrahe, "within the framework of general inflation development." Flight prices from Germany to popular holiday destinations have risen on average by just over ten percent compared to last autumn's holidays, a Kayak analysis for the German Press Agency shows: from 324 to 356 euros for round-trip economy class tickets.

The analysis examined connections from German airports to the 50 most sought-after flight destinations.

Where are still some bargains? In the classic sun destinations, Turkey and Egypt offer a good price-performance ratio according to Alltours' managing director Schrahe for families. For families, it is worth looking at destinations with a large hotel selection, good flight connections, and good all-inclusive offers, says Tui manager Boehnke: "Attractive are currently, among others, Heraklion, Mallorca, Antalya, Kos, and Djerba."

He cites a price example for a Tui family hotel in the Turkish resort town of Side, east of Antalya: a week's vacation with flights, transfers, and all-inclusive costs 568 euros per person in a double room, compared to the pure flight prices that were last found to be relatively affordable for destination cities in the first two weeks of September: Berlin to Milan cost an average of 130 euros round-trip, to Tirana in Albania 137 euros, to London and Budapest around 160 euros.

And further away? The Cape Verde, Mexico, or the Dominican Republic: Last-minute discounts of up to 45 percent are available for these distant holiday destinations, says Alltours' managing director Schrahe. For the Dominican Republic, for example, last-year's online offers for a week's vacation including flights, transfers, and hotel with all-inclusive were last available for around 1,200 euros per person.
