[Asian Games] Artistic gymnast Yeo Seo-jeong wins gold in women's vault at Asian Games

NAGOYA, Japan - South Korean artistic gymnast Yeo Seo-jeong claimed gold in the women's vault event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Thursday, marking the nation's first victory in the sport. The champion achieved an impressive average score of 14.483 points after two attempts, surpassing defending Asiad champion An Chang-ok of North Korea, who registered 13.666 points. Du Siyu of China secured the bronze medal with a score of 13.450.

This victory marked Yeo's second career Asian Games title in the women's vault, preceded by her triumph at the 2018 Asian Games. She had previously missed the 2022 edition to concentrate on the world championships. Currently, Yeo shares her remarkable accomplishment with her father, Yeo Hong-chul, an Olympic silver and bronze medalist in the men's vault from the 1994 and 1998 Asian Games respectively.
