Appiagyei appeals to First Lady, Vice President over detained nurse in Ghana Jollof case

Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei has called on First Lady Lordina Mahama and Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to step in and help the situation concerning senior nursing officer Salomey Awity Baffoe, who is currently held in detention as part of the Ghana Jollof case. Ms Baffoe, a mother of three, was recently denied bail by the High Court in Accra after being charged with abetting crime for allegedly assisting Barbara Asantewaa Kodua in publishing false news on the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.

The court's decision to deny bail was based on the cyber-related nature of the case and concerns that Ms Baffoe's release could interfere with ongoing investigations. Police claim that Ms Baffoe allegedly helped Ms Kodua disseminate videos and recruit others to redistribute the content, along with evidence of financial transactions between the two women.

Mrs Appiagyei expressed worry about the potential impact of Ms Baffoe's detention on her children and urged the First Lady and Vice President to take action. She lamented the current trend of using women against other women and emphasized the importance of Ms Baffoe's continued presence in taking care of her children, their education, and welfare.
