‘Am I dead?’ Ambika breaks down over sister Radha’s Rs460 million cheque allegations

Veteran actress Ambika Nair broke down in tears while responding to allegations made by her sister, Radha, concerning a disputed Rs46 crore cheque fraud case. Dubbed "fake" and "fabricated," Ambika vehemently rejected the claims. Radha had filed a complaint with the Greater Chennai Police against Ambika and their brother, Mallikarjuna Kunjan Nair, alleging that blank cheques she had signed and kept at her Chennai home were taken without her consent and used to claim approximately Rs46 crore. The actress expressed her hurt over being portrayed as a "thief" publicly.

Amid the allegations, Ambika also raised a separate dispute involving ARS Garden Studio, a property she claims she and Radha had jointly built. Emotional, Ambika recounted the removal of their shared 'A' for Ambika sign and its replacement with another name, asking, "Am I dead? No, I’m alive."

Refuting Radha's assertion about blank cheques left at her residence, Ambika contended that her sister was meticulous in handling her possessions. She also suggested that a substantial amount of their gold was with Radha. As per reports, Ambika added that jewellery was her sister's weakness.

Ambika expressed surprise at the case escalating to the police and claimed she felt wronged. Radha's complaint alleged that IDBI Bank's current account, initially used for business expenses, contained signed blank cheques for routine payments. The account, earlier operated under the name ARS Garden Studio, saw a new cheque book issued after the business was renamed RR Gardens in January 2025.

Radha claimed she was informed on September 17 that five old cheques had been processed under Ambika's name, totaling around Rs46 crore. She subsequently reported the incident to the police. The allegations and the dispute involving property, gold, and studio ownership and management, remain unresolved.
