Agassi demands proper break for exhausted tennis stars

Former tennis champion Andre Agassi has called for a proper off-season for players, as he prepares to lead Team World in the Laver Cup tournament in London. The eight-time Grand Slam winner, now 56, accused the sport of becoming increasingly physically demanding since he retired in 2006. Agassi will captain a six-person group featuring Australian players Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz at the three-day event, which begins on Friday.

Despite the event's high-profile nature and lack of ranking points, Agassi maintains his commitment to the players' well-being, stating that they "cover more real estate than Pat (Rafter) and I ever really had to do in our day." He emphasized the need for a proper rest period and hopes for some form of security for both players and fans.

Agassi expressed his appreciation for the Laver Cup, hoping not to see any compromise in its integrity while pushing for a better treatment of the athletes.
