Adobe Premiere is now available on Android, offering free 4K video editing

Following its debut on iPhone, Adobe Premiere video editing app has finally arrived on Android devices. The free application is now available for download on the Google Play Store, offering the same powerful professional editing tools that made it a hit with iPhone users. Adobe announced in a blog post that the Android version is equally free to use, with no watermarking on 4K video exports and no need for login or account.

Unlike many free apps that rely on ads for revenue, Adobe assures users that Premiere will not display any disruptive pop-up ads or upgrade prompts. The editing tools available in the free version are extensive, including an unlimited multi-track timeline for layering videos, audio extraction and trimming, as well as an AI-powered Enhance Speech tool to eliminate background noise. Adobe is also leveraging collaborations with influencers across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and X to promote this feature.

However, some advanced generative AI tools powered by Adobe Firefly remain behind a paywall, requiring either generative credits through an optional subscription or a Creative Cloud plan. These include text-to-video and image-to-video, AI sound effects, and Generative Fill. Cloud storage also necessitates a paid Creative Cloud upgrade.

Despite being free, Premiere offers a comprehensive suite of essential features and AI-powered tools that cater to both hobbyists and professionals. Adobe plans to continually expand the app's capabilities with future updates, which may include support for Adobe Fonts, enhanced captions, keyframes, cropping, beat detection, and syncing with the desktop version of Premiere.

Users can download Adobe Premiere from the Google Play Store, provided their devices have at least 5GB of RAM and are running Android 13 or later. The app's relatively low system requirements ensure compatibility with most Android devices currently in use. Adobe also confirmed that the app supports various device form factors, including both flip-style and book-style foldables.
