A EV truck with a TV built into a front trunk for tailgating? Ford wants to patent the idea

Ford has filed a patent for a unique feature on their upcoming electric truck, the Fathom. The patent reveals a fold-out, front trunk area that could potentially house a TV, offering a new level of entertainment for tailgating, camping, and other activities. This area would take advantage of the EV's lack of a traditional engine compartment, allowing for storage space at the front of the vehicle.

The design also includes a swappable hood, which could be used to attach additional items like food or tools, without compromising the truck's appearance. The Fathom is expected to have a large battery, capable of providing over 300 miles of range, so the TV should not significantly impact the vehicle's energy capacity. The upcoming midsize pickup, priced at $28,350, will offer more passenger room than a Toyota RAV4 and will launch in early 2027, featuring Apple Maps integration, CarPlay, and Android Auto.

However, the exact appearance of the Fathom remains unknown, as the current images released by Ford are camouflaged.
