2027: Imo APP opposes relocation of ldeato North/South collation centre, demands transparency

The Action Peoples Party (APP) of Imo State has expressed concerns over the proposed relocation of the collation centre for the Ideato North/South Federal Constituency from Urualla to Dikenafai. The party's Imo State Chairman, Ernest Njesi, emphasized the need for transparency, due process, and adherence to established electoral procedures in any such decision.

The APP warned against unilateral actions that could affect an entire constituency and called for adequate stakeholder consultation and verifiable justification for the proposed change. This comes amid a legal challenge before the Federal High Court in Abuja, with residents demanding a halt to the relocation and an investigation into the decision-making process.

The party noted that the relocation raise concerns about security claims, urging the relevant authorities to provide clear evidence supporting their position. The APP also expressed apprehension over similar alterations in other federal constituencies and urged INEC and security agencies to provide transparent information about any proposed changes to electoral arrangements.

The party warned against using electoral decisions as private affairs of a few individuals and stressed the importance of maintaining the integrity and credibility of the electoral process.
