18th IDSFFK to open with A Fox Under a Pink Moon

The 18th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) is set to commence in the state's capital on Friday, September 25, 2026, with the opening documentary titled "A Fox Under a Pink Moon." The film, directed by Mehrdad Oskouei and co-directed by Afghan artist Soraya, focuses on the struggles of a 16-year-old artist who has spent five years attempting to flee Iran for Austria.

Soraya's documentary exposes her harrowing experiences, including dangerous escape attempts, her abusive marriage, and her evocative art through drawings and sculptures. The film sheds light on the challenging journey of undocumented refugees and the resilience of individuals overcoming gender-based hardships through creative expression.

The festival will open at Kairali Theatre at 6 p.m. with Minister for Cultural Affairs P.C. Vishnunadh and Minister for Transport C.P. John presiding over the event. The first day of the festival will showcase films from both the International Fiction and International Non-Fiction sections.
