Zelensky says Kremlin planning new mass attack on Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Russia is preparing a new major assault on his nation, according to remarks published on Tuesday. Zelensky, referencing his meeting with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham during the UN General Assembly, highlighted that Ukraine is continuously liaising with its allies to arrange additional anti-aircraft defenses.

Intelligence currently indicates that Russia is gearing up for a significant offensive against Ukraine. Zelensky emphasized that discussions about easing sanctions on Russia are inconceivable while Ukrainians endure daily threats from missile and drone attacks. Russian forces have traditionally carried out substantial nighttime drone and missile assaults but have shifted tactics recently, executing continuous day-long barrages.

Moscow has also lately deployed jet-powered drones that fly at greater altitudes and can bypass air defenses, causing extensive disruption to commerce, government, and daily life in the ongoing 4-1/2-year conflict. During his stay in New York, Zelensky deliberated on ending the war with US President Donald Trump, including a potential bilateral ceasefire on energy-related objectives.

Russian forces are gradually advancing through Ukraine's Donetsk region, yet the front line has remained largely unchanged for months. Ukrainian forces currently conduct air strikes on Russian targets, including those in the oil sector, up to 3,000 km (1,800 miles) from the Ukrainian border. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Zelensky explained that Russian President Vladimir Putin is neither winning nor losing the war, but he does not deem it necessary to engage in direct negotiations to conclude the conflict.

Zelensky noted that the battlefield situation is not favorable for Putin; he is not winning, and he is not losing since his society is losing personnel. He added that he does not consider it necessary to halt the conflict.
