YouTube is giving livestream communities more ways to play, pay, and participate

YouTube is introducing a variety of new features for livestream communities, aiming to enhance the ways viewers can contribute, pay, and participate. At its annual Made on YouTube event, the platform unveiled over 30 products and updates tailored for livestreaming, focusing on collaboration, competition, fan funding, and audience engagement.

Among the announcements are Live Showdowns, timed competitions between creators where audience participation influences the winner; an expansion of Watch With, enabling creators to build live commentary around other YouTube content; and a pilot program integrating YouTube's Auto-Dubbing technology into live video. These changes aim to give creators more reasons to go live, capitalizing on YouTube's existing success in livestreaming, which has over 600 million logged-in viewers daily.
