‘Your country is proud of you’, Anwar tells 22 Malaysians competing at WorldSkills Shanghai

SHANGHAI, Sept 23 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed pride in Malaysia's 22 young competitors participating in the 48th WorldSkills Competition, emphasizing the importance of skilled workers in a modern, technology-driven economy. He stressed that Malaysia's participation allows the country to benchmark its standards and identify areas for improvement against the world's best.

Anwar, also the Finance Minister, highlighted the indispensable role of skilled young professionals in maintaining the functionality of advanced machinery and software. He emphasized that while technology continues to advance, there is still a need for human expertise to understand and maintain these systems. Anwar stressed that the energy and dynamism of young people are crucial for economic progress, and society must recognize their contributions beyond their economic value.

He also highlighted that young people contribute to society by advocating for social justice, addressing wealth inequalities, and pushing for poverty eradication.
