Xiaomi 18 Pro series goes official with ‘privacy screen,’ 8,500 mAh battery, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

Xiaomi has officially introduced its new Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max series, featuring cutting-edge specs and impressive batteries, in China. These flagship devices will soon be available globally. The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max share the latest Snapdragon chips and retain features from the previous year, including a rear-facing display.

Their standout feature is Xiaomi's implementation of Samsung's Privacy Display, known as the “privacy screen,” which is now available on both high-end and compact flagship models. Xiaomi enhances the privacy screen functionality by using the front-facing camera to detect nearby people automatically and activating the privacy screen in crowded public areas based on location.

The other specifications are equally strong, with impressive displays, large batteries, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processors in both models – the Pro Max version receiving a "Extreme" variant. Visually, the devices are identical, although the Pro Max comes in a unique transparent edition. The Xiaomi 18 Pro series begins at 5,999 CNY, just under $900 USD, but pricing outside of China remains unknown.

Although Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 17 internationally in February 2026, the Pro models will debut outside of China this time, unlike the Xiaomi 17 Pro.
