World : Mohamad Hasan Arrives In New York For UNGA 81

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan touched down in New York today to spearhead Malaysia's participation in the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). His arrival was met by Malaysia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Datuk Nadzirah Osman, along with key senior foreign ministry officials around 9am local time.

This marks the third time Mohamad has presided over Malaysia's delegation at the UNGA since assuming the Foreign Minister role in December 2023. He is slated to present Malaysia's national statement during the UNGA General Debate on Sept 26 at roughly 4:30pm local time. Additional engagements include participation in high-level meetings, bilateral engagements, and various committee sessions throughout the week.

On Sept 24, Mohamad will attend the Peacebuilding Commission meeting and the OIC Annual Coordination Meeting of Foreign Ministers. He is also set to attend the 2026 Ministerial Meeting in Support of UNRWA and a High-Level Meeting on Sea-Level Rise threats. On Sept 25, Mohamad will meet UN Secretary-General António Guterres and engage in discussions on pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response.

Other notable meetings feature the 50th Annual Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Group of 77 and China, as well as the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of The Hague Group. During his stay, Mohamad will also meet with foreign ministers and prominent figures from various countries including Nepal, Iran, Kuwait, Ghana, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Algeria.
