Winnipeg Jets drop home preseason finale 2-1 in OT to Oilers

The Winnipeg Jets lost to the Edmonton Oilers in overtime during the second preseason finale of their home games, 2-1, on Tuesday night. After a mostly unremarkable first period where neither team converted on a power play opportunity, the Jets scored first. Nino Niederreiter assisted Alex Iafallo, who tapped in Alex Iafallo's shot off the boards for a 1-0 advantage at 13:04.

The Oilers responded at 15:50 through a deftly played point shot by Atro Leppanen, which found the back of the net despite Domenic DiVincentiis' best efforts to stop it. Both squads managed six shots on goal in the frame, with no additional goals in the second period as Edmonton dominated 11-7 in shots.

Domenic DiVincentiis faced quality saves from both teams throughout the game, but overtime proved decisive. Dylan Samberg's miss set up Zach Hyman to score the game-winning goal in the 1:26 mark of overtime. Hyman's quick pass to Marjala resulted in a high shot over DiVincentiis.
