Who is Dinesh Thakkar? 12th-pass Angel One founder buys Rs 711 crore Juhu tower

Dinesh Thakkar, the founder, chairman and managing director of Angel One, has made headlines by agreeing to purchase an entire luxury residential tower in Mumbai’s Juhu for approximately Rs711 crore. The deal, signed between Thakkar and Embassy Developments, marks India's largest single residential unit transaction. The property, part of the Embassy Terrazza project on Juhu Tara Road, is a ground-plus-seven-storey tower with a RERA carpet area of around 63,000 square feet, which Thakkar plans to rename 'Angelus' as his family home.

Thakkar, hailing from a business family with roots in textile trading, studied science at Kishinchand Chellaram College in Mumbai but abandoned his conventional higher education after completing Class 12. He entered the textile business and later the stock market, eventually founding Angel One in 1996, a brokerage firm focused on transparency, technology, and customer service.
