Waiter, there's some Path of Exile in my Total War: Warhammer 3 DLC

The preview build of the Lords of the End Times DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3 has revealed a unique upgrade system inspired by the action RPG Path of Exile. In this system, the undead leader Nagash has a personal web of enhancements called the Black Pyramid, which features a complex network of upgrades that resemble a maze with its own search bar.

The upgrade branches focus on improving troops, characters, and Nagash's economy, as well as providing direct buffs to the undead leader himself. As players dedicate themselves to activating nodes that allow them to summon various troop types, Nagash becomes increasingly powerful, casting devastating spells and wielding massive weapons.

To obtain the Books of Nagash, players must find them scattered throughout the world, with each tome granting passive spellcasting abilities for Nagash. However, playing as Nagash can be challenging, as his undead armies often face diplomatic penalties due to the Land of the Dead and the resulting negative consequences for nearby neighbors.

Despite the difficulties, playing as Nagash offers a unique and exhilarating experience, albeit one that requires careful balancing of power and diplomacy.
