Valve shadow dropped chicken pets into CS2

You wouldn't expect the most thrilling development in Counter-Strike 2 today to involve chickens. However, the introduction of pet chickens has eclipsed all other updates, including the Rush Hour mode and silent reloading. Chickens have been present in the game for some time, with players able to interact with and follow them on certain maps.

Now, players can receive an untradeable egg during their weekly drops. After a week, this egg will hatch into a chick that players can inspect, feed, grow, and train. The chicks can learn tricks such as running in circles, flapping their wings, and performing karate kicks. Players can name their chicks, take them to the photo booth, and even have them sit on their shoulder in the loadout screen.

Once fully grown, the chickens will eventually leave, but their photo will remain on the player's profile. Despite not being mentioned in the patch notes, this unusual addition is consistent with Valve's tendency to introduce unique features rather than focus on improving the game's anticheat system.
