Unity colleges staff suspend strike

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has called off its strike action against the concession of King’s College, Lagos, to its Old Boys Association. The decision was reached after a meeting between ASCSN leadership, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, and zonal coordinators of the Unity Schools in Kano. The union agreed to suspend the industrial action while a seven-member committee reviews the King’s College concession document.

This comes after the colleges were originally scheduled to resume on September 13, but ASCSN workers had directed members to boycott the resumption. The strike suspension allows for a review of the agreement, and the Federal Ministry of Education has proposed September 27 for students to return to their schools.
