Ukraine war: Rubio: We invited Putin to the G20 summit in Miami
The G20 meeting is set to take place in Miami in December - but will it also include Kremlin chief Putin? The host, the USA, is trying to influence this.
The US has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit in Miami in December, according to US Senator Marco Rubio. The US hopes Putin will accept the invitation, which would allow him to meet not only with US President Donald Trump but also with other world leaders. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also expressed willingness to attend the summit and meet with Putin if invited.
Russia's participation in the G20 has been strained due to its conflict with western members over the Ukraine war. The G20 summit will be attended by 19 countries, the European Union, and the African Union.
