Uddhav Thackeray Targets CEC Gyanesh Kumar Over Election Commission Functioning, Demands Immediate Action

Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of arbitrarily running the Election Commission and demanded his immediate arrest during a press conference. Thackeray alleged that opposition parties had been raising concerns about the Election Commission's functioning for years, and that recent events have confirmed their claims.

He pointed fingers at Kumar, alleging he was the mastermind behind efforts to split political parties and weaken democracy. Thackeray also suggested that disagreements had emerged within the three-member Election Commission, with the two other commissioners effectively marginalizing Kumar. Thackeray questioned whether the Election Commission was acting on instructions from the Union Home Ministry and sought clarification on the issue.
