Trimble is just getting started with the Illini

On September 23, Champaign reported that the country’s best receiver, Illinois wide receiver Brayden Trimble, will be on the other sideline during the Big Ten opener against Ohio State. Sophomore Trimble knows all too well about Ohio State star Jeremiah Smith from watching him play countless times. He doesn’t plan to approach Smith before the game, instead focusing on beating them.

Trimble expresses his excitement for playing at Horseshoe Stadium, the famous Ohio Stadium, describing it as a great opportunity and environment.

Trimble had his best game of the season against Southern Illinois, catching five passes for 37 yards. He looks forward to improving, listening to coaches, and being in the right spot at the right time. Illinois coordinator Barry Lunney Jr. praised Trimble’s performance in their first real game, noting that he “gets it” and has taken a step forward.

Trimble acknowledges there’s room for improvement but remains confident in his abilities, aiming to be a top Big Ten receiver. The home support from family and friends adds to the motivation, and the strong performances of fellow receiver Collin Dixon provide additional encouragement.
