Taylor Swift Announces ‘The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore’ Album Featuring Newly Recorded Tracks

Less than a day after announcing a new single, "Patient Zero," on September 25, Taylor Swift surprised fans with a deluxe reissue of her 2022 album "The Life of a Showgirl" on September 23. The extended edition features four additional tracks, marking the first time an album has achieved the largest first-week sales in history, with 4.002 million album-equivalent units sold.

In an Instagram post, Swift expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support, stating, "We just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs." Swifties will have to wait an additional day and a half to hear the new additions, "Pink Clouding," "Babylon," and "Cleveland!," the latter likely inspired by Swift's husband Travis Kelce's love for his hometown of Cleveland.

The album art depicts Swift standing in front of a bright curtain, wearing a dazzling, fringe-filled minidress, with the album title emblazoned in sparkling gold letters. "Patient Zero" is now available for pre-order on Swift's website, along with acoustic and piano versions, each accompanied by distinctive covers. The piano version features Swift looking contemplative, with her engagement ring visible, while the acoustic version shows her gazing off into the distance in a gray space, dressed in a simple black camisole.

The original album held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for 12 weeks and produced two Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits, "The Fate of Ophelia" and "Opalite."
