Status PN jadi tanda tanya selepas dakwaan batal pendaftaran

Since the merger candidacy of Perikatan Nasional (PN) has been called into question following the cancellation of its voter registration, a sense of uncertainty surrounds the status of PN as a political offshoot. According to Sinar Harian, a viral notice dated September 22 was filed by the Registration of Societies Department (JPPM), providing a 30-day window for PN President Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar to submit a response to JPPM.

The notice also accuses PN of halting all activities under its name, referencing Section 13(2) of the Societies Act 1966. Sources from Bersatu, one of PN's partners, claim the notice to be valid, and the Deputy Leader of PN, Takiyuddin Hassan, along with other PN members, have been informed about the matter. Bersatu intends to release a statement soon, and the leaders of the other PN partners have been contacted for their input.

PAS Suraya member Dr Tengku Fakhruddin Tengku Fauzi seemed unalarmed by the news, stating on Facebook, "We are PAS. PAS for everyone." Relations between Bersatu and PAS have been tense since PAS assumed the presidency of PN in February, following Samsuri's appointment as the deputy president of the Islamic party. PAS ended its political cooperation with Bersatu last year, while Wawasan's leadership transition, led by Hamzah Zainudin and Pejuang, was subsequently accepted as a PN component.

PN has collaborated with the National Front (Barisan Nasional) in the PRN Nine Selangor, a move Bersatu claims was done at their discretion. PAS President Hadi Awang alleges that Bersatu is no longer a component of PN since the latter announced its plans to form a new alliance, despite Bersatu's dispute with the claim.
