Chinas Präsident Xi Jinping ist zu einem Besuch in Washington gelandet. Für den Chinesen ist es die erste USA-Reise seit rund drei Jahren.
New York - Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Washington for a three-day state visit. Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan touched down Wednesday evening at a military airfield near the US capital. They were greeted there by US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania. The subjects of the visit are expected to include the trade and tariff dispute between the two countries, as well as security in the handling of artificial intelligence and global conflicts such as the Iran war or Russia's military aggression against Ukraine.
President Trump aims to pack a comprehensive program for Xi by Friday, including a military parade and state banquet. This is Xi's first trip to the United States since 2023, when he visited California for the APEC economic summit and met Biden, Trump's predecessor. President Trump invited Xi to the White House during his visit to Beijing in mid-May. More: Trump greets Xi and risks a new trade war.
