Sport has a way of humbling those who take it for granted: India’s pistol coach Ronak

India's hopes for a medal in the Asian Games shooting competition were dashed when two of the country's top pistol shooters failed to perform in the qualification round. Esha Singh, the silver medallist from Hangzhou in 2022, finished 15th, while Suruchi Phogat, who had been performing well in recent months, placed 26th. Despite these disappointments, the skeet shooters helped to salvage the day for India.

However, pistol coach and High Performance Director Ronak Pandit expressed his disappointment, stating that the team's performance was "unpardonable" and falling short of what they are capable of. He emphasized that pressure is a part of representing the country in any competition, but the team's scores in recent years had been consistently below the mark required for a medal.

Pandit urged the young athletes to take this as a reality check and realize that sports has a way of humbling even the most confident of individuals.
