Speaker says yet to receive PM’s term limit, AG-PP separation bills

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul revealed that he has not yet received the two bills that have plans to be tabled, one of which is to separate the attorney-general and public prosecutor roles, and the other to limit the prime minister's tenure. According to Bernama, the speaker was informed about these plans but has not yet received the bills.

The prime minister's tenure bill was first introduced on February 23 but failed to pass with the necessary two-thirds majority during its second reading on March 2. The bill to separate the roles of the attorney-general and public prosecutor was also first tabled on February 23, with its second reading postponed on July 14 to allow for the government to present proposed amendments to the Conference of Rulers. The speaker noted that he is usually informed about bills two weeks before they are tabled.
