Saudi Museums Commission marks National Day with special programs

The Museums Commission is commemorating Saudi National Day with special programs at various museums across the Kingdom. Starting September 23, families and visitors of all ages are invited to participate in these unique events and experiences. The special celebrations, themed "Our pride is in our nature," aim to showcase the Kingdom's rich heritage and legacy through interactive storytelling and cultural displays.

At the Saudi National Museum in Riyadh, visitors will embark on an interactive journey through the King's unification of the country and the formation of the national identity. The museum will offer a "shadow theater" performance recounting King Abdulaziz's vision and the unification of the Kingdom, followed by stations highlighting influential national figures, the diversity of the Kingdom's regions, and its enduring symbols, customs, and traditions.

The museum's atrium will showcase live traditional arts performances from across the Kingdom, in collaboration with the Theater and Performing Arts Commission. Families can enjoy interactive games, creative activities, a new sensory discovery wall for children, and a recording station to share personal messages about the Kingdom and its future.

The Red Sea Museum in Jeddah will celebrate the national occasion by exploring the history of Jeddah and the Red Sea, running from September 23 to 26. The museum will host a full day of festivities on September 23, featuring face painting with a national theme, creative coloring sessions, guided tours of the museum's building and collections, and the "Story of a Nation" experience, delivered with a Saudi Sign Language interpreter for deaf children and people with disabilities.

Additionally, the museum will launch "Port Encounters," a new platform supporting emerging Saudi photographers and artists, with a special exhibition titled "Between Sea and Stone" running until September 30.

The Tarek Abdulhakim Museum in Jeddah will focus on the Kingdom's rich musical heritage, hosting a series of music workshops for children and families from September 23 to 25, running daily from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The workshops will explore the Kingdom's musical traditions, encouraging participation and exploration among visitors of all ages.
