S. Korea clobbers Thailand to reach next phase in baseball

NAGOYA, Japan - In a dominant display at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday, South Korea extended their winning streak in baseball to three consecutive matches by defeating Thailand with a commanding 18-1 scoreline in Group B. Park Jae-hyun and Park Jun-soon each hit grand slams during the action at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Baseball Stadium, located approximately 50 kilometers southeast of Nagoya, Japan.

However, the South Korean team conceded their first run of the tournament. By securing victories in all three group phase games, South Korea advanced to the Super Round, where they will face the top two teams from Group A, determined through subsequent matches, in pursuit of a medal. The Super Round games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, culminating in the gold medal match on Sunday at Toyohashi Municipal Baseball Stadium, situated about 85 kilometers southeast of Nagoya.

South Korea scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Roh Si-hwan and a two-run home run by Moon Bo-gyeong. Park Jae-hyun's grand slam extended the South Korean lead to 7-0 in the second inning, and they added three more runs thereafter.
