RUSH Make Huge Donation to Fund Neil Peart Memorial at Hometown Park

Rush frontman Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson have provided the final push to ensure that their late drummer Neil Peart will have a permanent memorial in his hometown park. Six years after the campaign to raise $1 million for a Peart memorial in Ontario, Canada, Lee and Lifeson recently handed over a check for $785,000 to the Neil Peart Commemorative Task Force Fundraising sub-committee, bringing the goal closer to completion, as reported by CKTB News.

The guitarist also contributed $1 for each ticket sold during his book tour for his autobiography, My Effin Life. Rush included a portion of VIP ticket sales to the memorial during their ongoing Fifty Something tour. St. Catharines city manager Eric Lamothe expressed delight in having the funding secured, stating that the public art memorial will transform the park into a world-class cultural landmark.

The memorial will feature larger-than-life bronze sculptures of Peart, connected by a pathway offering insights into his life and contributions to music. The memorial park is set to open in late 2027.
