Retired? 'All news' to Lonzo Ball, responds on social media to reports

Lonzo Ball, the NBA veteran point guard, has dismissed reports suggesting he is retiring, stating that the news is "news to me." The 2017 NBA Draft second overall pick from UCLA is currently a free agent. During a "Ball in the Family" podcast episode, Ball discussed battling injuries with former teammate Gilbert Arenas. Ball expressed gratitude for his nine-year NBA career, noting that he feels like he gave everything he had to the game.

He acknowledged missing two seasons due to a knee injury and reflected on whether he reached his peak. Ball averaged career-high points and assists in his rookie and rookie seasons but has struggled in his last three seasons, averaging career lows in points and assists. He acknowledged the physical toll of playing and the reality that not everyone can afford basic necessities.

Despite the challenges, Ball remains optimistic and open to the possibility of a team offering him a contract during the NBA season, which could prompt a potential return to the court.
