Rams legend named among NFL's 10 best players without a Super Bowl ring

Pro Football Hall of Famer Deacon Jones, known for his time with the Los Angeles Rams, has been named among the NFL's top 10 players without a Super Bowl ring. Jones, who played for the Rams from 1961 to 1971, was a dominant force, particularly on the defensive line, and was often seen as part of the legendary "Fearsome Foursome."

He won two Defensive Player of the Year awards and earned eight All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors during his tenure with the franchise. Despite his impressive statistics, including being unofficially the NFL's sack leader on five occasions, Jones never led the team to a winning postseason or a championship.

ESPN's Katherine Terrell named Jones the eighth-best player in NFL history to never win a Super Bowl, citing his significant production and influence on the game. Jones' impact was so great that he was unanimously voted onto the NFL's All-Time team, alongside other greats like Butkus and Page. Terrell's ranking also highlighted Jones' unofficial sack tally, which includes at least three seasons with 20 or more sacks.

While the sack statistic wasn't recorded until 1982, Jones was the unofficial leader in five seasons. Jones was also honored by being named to the NFL's 1960s All-Decade Team, the 75th and 100th Anniversary All-Time teams, and his jersey number 75 is retired by the Rams. His legacy in football lore is further cemented by these accolades.
