Raja of Perlis grants audience to Indonesian ambassador to Malaysia

At the Blue Audience Hall, Istana Arau, in Perlis, Malaysia, the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, granted an audience to the Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia, Raden Datuk Mohammad Iman Hascarya, on the day prior. The meeting highlighted the enduring relationship between the two nations, stated Istana Arau in a recent announcement.

Perlis, situated adjacent to Thailand and neighboring northern Sumatra, offers ample opportunities for cross-border collaboration and regional connections, the statement added. Indonesian Consul General in Penang, Wanton Saragih Sidauruk, attended the gathering. According to Istana Arau, the bond between Perlis and Indonesia has deepened through educational cooperation, with the establishment of Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM) in the state marking a significant milestone.

UMAM serves as the sole Universitas Muhammadiyah campus outside Indonesia and recently appointed Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, the Raja Muda of Perlis, as its Chancellor. Additionally, strong ties exist in the economic, trade, tourism, and cultural spheres, fostering increased exchanges of expertise, economic prospects, and mutual benefits, the statement further elaborated.
